I have been playing piano since I was 4. My mother was a piano teacher all growing up, so piano lessons have
always been a part of my life! I played competitive piano through high school and won many awards
throughout that time. I joined band in 6th
grade to play French Horn and grew a passion for both instruments.
I went to college on a piano and French Horn
scholarship and received a Bachelors of Music Education from Northwestern State
University in Louisiana. I went on
to teach Elementary Music in Plano at Weatherford Elementary for 6 years. After getting pregnant with my youngest son, I realized I wanted to try
to make a way to stay home and be with my family. I have 2 beautiful boys , Blake (3) and Ian
(1). My husband is a local McKinney
police officer.
I have
been teaching Kindermusik the last 2 years teaching children Newborn-7
years old. I have a love of
music and want to share that on to children so that they may grow and
love music too!
My philosophy is very easy going and low-pressure. I use the Piano Pronto method
series, which is a traditional piano method that includes lots of games and
activities to help make piano fun and interesting! Through lessons, kids will be exposed to a
well-rounded music education that includes theory,
composer study, piano basics, and performance skills.
We recently located to McKinney from Colorado Springs and have a 10 year old daughter that we would like to be in piano lessons. She's been in piano with a teacher - one on one - in her home for a year so is probably still a beginner - ? I was wondering if you do that or are you working out of a studio? If you know of anyone that is looking for new students that you can recommend, that would be appreciated as well. Looks like you teach younger children.
