Lessons
Lessons are given weekly in 30 minute increments. Lessons focus on technique and repertoire as
well as musicianship and creativity.
Practice
Regular home practice is essential for student success. Ideally, students should aim for at least 5 days of practice each week.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend each scheduled week of the semester. When you register for lessons, your timeslot is reserved for you for the
entire semester. Please keep in mind that lesson
times are limited and make-ups for missed lessons are not guaranteed. No refunds will be given for missed lessons.
In the event that your student needs to miss a lesson because of a
conflict or illness, please contact me with as much advance notice as possible. I will do my very best to schedule a makeup for conflicts, but
due to my limited schedule this may not be possible.
Any lessons missed by the instructor due to illness or emergency will be
rescheduled as soon as possible.
Please be prompt – lesson times cannot be extended for students who arrive late. Students should be picked up promptly at the end of their lesson time.
Summer lessons are scheduled on a by-the-lesson basis. Students should expect to continue lessons by taking at least 4 lessons
during the 10 week semester. Students who do not enroll for summer lessons are not guaranteed a spot in
the studio for the next year.
Materials
All students must have a piano or digital piano for home practice.
Acoustic pianos should be tuned at least once a year, and kept in working
order. If you prefer a digital piano, please invest in a full-size keyboard (88
keys) with weighted, touch-sensitive keys and pedals.
Tuition & Fees
The year is divided up into 3 semesters: Fall, Spring, and Summer. Tuition is based on an entire semester
commitment. Tuition may be paid per
semester or divided into equal monthly payments based on the semester.
Current Tuition rates are $25 per lesson.
Fall & Spring semesters consist of 15 weeks. Payment may be made in full or monthly
installments. Full Semester payment is
$375 due by the 1st semester class.
Monthly payments are $75 per month due no later than the 10th
of each month. A $10 late fee will be
assessed for any payments made after this date.
Statements will be emailed prior to the first week of each month with a
reminder of current tuition charges, as well as any additional materials
needing to be reimbursed.
Students should plan to commit to lessons for the full school year. If unforeseen circumstances require a student to terminate lessons
mid-year, written notice one month prior to end of semester is required. Payment for the remaining lessons of the
semester is still expected and will not be refunded.
A yearly enrollment fee will also be assessed
in the amount of $30 to help with recital and studio material costs.
Parental Involvement
Parental support is crucial to the success of each student. The
assignment notebook is our means of weekly communication about expectations,
assignments, scheduling reminders, and progress. It is also important that you sit down with
your child during practice time to help them achieve what is expected for the
following lesson.
Performances
Students are expected to perform in bi-annual recitals at the end of the
Fall and Spring semesters. These will be
low pressure performance opportunities that will benefit the discipline of your
child’s music ability.
